How Do You Begin Planning Your Wedding?
Seek and destroy! That’s the thought that many women give to the whole wedding planning idea. While there are professionals in the wedding industry that will do all the work for you, sometimes it’s better to start yourself and then bring in reinforcements later in the game.
The best way to get started is to create a specific notebook and e-mail just for your wedding planning. Create several tabs like: dresses, colors, flowers, invitations, venues, décor, and a miscellaneous tab that can keep up with all the extras. Start searching through those bridal magazines you bought and pull out those dog-eared pages and put them in your book. This notebook will hold great references for your wedding planner should you bring her in closer to the event.
Aside from your notebook, how will you begin planning your wedding? Take this one step at a time and create a list of what’s most important to you (budget and guests should be at the top, preferably even the first two). Once this list is established and you have your right hand girl at your side (your maid of honor or another close friend or family member), create a time each week or month to meet up at your favorite spot and discuss everything wedding related over lunch or coffee. This kind of atmosphere will help you to associate wedding planning with a fun, relaxing spot and remember not to take it overboard. The best thing that a girl could possibly do when beginning her planning is to remember that while it’s her day, she’s not the only one participating.
